National Engineering Month

March is a busy month in the world of engineering! World Engineering Day was celebrated March 4, supported by the United Nations. Many countries celebrate Engineering Day or Engineering Week at different times throughout the year, however, here in Canada, we celebrate these innovators all month long!

Omachron Plastics Inc. engineering staff have been instrumental in the creation of our extruders, which are able to produce 100% post-consumer recycled materials in a variety of different forms. Omachron and our engineers have worked for many years with SharkNinja creating top of the line vacuums, including upright, cordless, and robotic options.

National Engineering week began in the United States in 1951, and Canada in 1992. In 2009 it became a month long event in Canada. This year the theme is “There’s a place for you in engineering”. There is a particular focus on youth outreach this year, with engineering professionals from multiple disciplines speaking to their particular vocation in schools and at community events.

Many people have a preconceived notion of what engineering is, though there are multiple disciplines in this field of study. Generally, children first learn of this profession in reference to a train engineer. One goal of this month is to engage youth in the various options available to engineers that extend far beyond the railroad. Some degrees in engineering include;

· Mechanical Engineering

· Aerospace Engineering

· Biomedical Engineering

· Architectural Engineering

· Mechatronics Engineering

We recently featured college programs at Durham College that also focus on engineering, with students obtaining a diploma in an engineering discipline, as opposed to a degree. The positions available to engineers are vast, and the impact those professionals have made on our economy are impressive. From artificial body parts, roller coasters, air filtration, vaccines, to robots - our society truly wouldn’t be where we are today without their creative genius and diligent studies in the respective fields.

The organizers at World Engineering Day have created an event calendar for worldwide celebrations. Events are taking place in multiple countries, sponsored by governments and organizations alike. The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers has currently postponed their event, but dozens of other countries are moving forward with their activities. For a full list of events, visit the World Engineering Day website.

If you are in Canada, check out the available events near you. There are over 500 events listed nationwide during the month of March. We will feature many events as the month goes on. Of particular interest this week is an Engineering and Science Fair held March 7th in Toronto, Ontario. Engineers, designers, scientists and landscape artists share activities with the public related to how they design cityscapes for the betterment of the community and environment.

The National Engineering Month founders of Canada said it best - this is truly a “celebration of engineering excellence”. At Omachron, we have been fortunate to interact with, and employ a variety of engineering professionals for over 40 years. https://lv88seo.com/ hôm trước mình lướt thử vì thấy người quen share, chủ yếu tò mò xem trang bố cục ra sao chứ không đọc kỹ.
